SmartOASYS- IoT Vertical Gateway is an intelligent Industrial IoT gateway system which allows easy integration of sensors based on MODBUS, Proprietary Wireless protocols (Sub GHz, LoRA etc) with IOT platforms or cloud using Ethernet or GSM (Optional).
The application platform can access the sensors data either using SNMP protocol or Gateway can communicate with standard platforms using industry standard protocols HTTP(REST), MQTT. SmartOASYS- IoT Gateway also supports wireless sensors through its 868MHz ISM band interface. It supports a host of wireless environmental sensors, eliminating the need for a wired connection. Humidity sensors at the preset intervals and makes it available to the user over SNMP protocol.
SmartOASYS- IoT Gateway as gateway can also be configured for connecting to Cloud / IOT platforms using industry standard HTTP(REST), MQTT. This allows transfer of sensor data to Cloud platforms using REST API. The remote management of devices etc is achieved with the inbuilt proprietary software.

Our  SmartOASYS Swimming Pool Water Monitoring Module

who want to upgrade their legacy SCADA based water monitoring systems
for reducing and monitoring water pollution standards in swimming pools
and improve Public Health, Public Safety and Environment standards

At present the water quality monitoring in Swimming Pool are monitored manually. Manual measurements are being conducted four times a day, say 6AM, 12 Noon, 6PM and 12 Midnight at each pool and the following water parameters are tested and recorded into a log book. The parameters being tested manually are: 

  1. Chlorine level,
  2. pH level,
  3. Water temperature,
  4. Alkalinity
  5. Environment temperature and
  6. Humidity.
Present Testing procedure:
A technician carries a water testing kit (MD 200) to the pool at the designated time, collects the water sample from the pool in vial provided by the MD 200 tester, adds a reagent tablet to the water sample and inserts the vial into the slot of MD 200 and notes the reading displayed by the tester and records the same into the log sheet. He again collects a new water sample and adds a different reagent tablet and inserts the vial into the instrument and notes the reading displayed by the tester and records the same into the log sheet. Then he measures the water temperature in the pool by inserting a probe and the environmental temperature and humidity from another instrument and records these readings into the log sheet. This process is repeated at every pool and at an interval of 6 hours.

Disadvantages:The present testing method has the following disadvantages.

  • Requires technician’s visit to each pool at designated testing times (4 times a day – 12 trips to 3 pools) – Manpower cost
  • Requires to carrying out manual testing of water for 2 parameters by using tester and reagent tablets – recurring cost on account of using tablets for each test
  • Manual recording of temperature and humidity
  • Manual recording is prone to errors and manipulation
  • Redundant operation to enter the data recorded into the log sheet into another system – again prone to errors
  • No provision for management to get a visual view of water quality in a pool at a particular instance.
  • No provision to generate alerts to Management in case water quality varies from set standards.
  • No provision to feed these parameters back into the dosing system to pump appropriate quantity of pH and chlorine solutions into the pool
Proposed Solution
SmartOASYS system will overcome these problems in a professional way by automating the testing of these parameters. The system architecture of the SmartOASYS swimming pool module sub controller are as follows
SmartOASYS swimming pool monitoring controller is a intelligent data acquisition system with pH, ORP, Chlorine, temperature and Humidity probes, which will be installed near the swimming pool with required plumbing to draw water samples from the pool at preset intervals to test the same. The required test parameters are measured by the respective probes from the drawn water sample and the data is stored in the system. After the tests the water is disposed off.

SmartOASYS swimming pool monitoring controller transfers the measured data to the cloud data storage with required time stamping. SmartOASYS swimming pool monitoring dashboards presents the data to the management in required formats for viewing. The system can also generate alerts in the form of emails or SMS to appropriate personnel in case of alarm conditions.

Scope of work:
Delivery of one set of Hardware consisting of Automated Swimming Pool Water quality monitoring system and Dosing pump controller, a dashboard with data analytics to show the quality of water in the swimming pools over a period of times, Alarm & escalation system and interface through our MODBUS interface to integrate with BMS system. Real-time periodic water sample checks of

  1. Chlorine,
  2. pH,
  3. water temperature,
  4. alkalinity,
  5. environmental temperature
  6. humidity etc
will be carried out automatically by the installed system (SmartOASYS Gateway with Sensors) and they will be recorded in the database and displayed on the dashboard.

Out of Scope:
The tests to be carried out fortnightly such as calcium Hardness, Cyanuric acid have to be carried out manually and entered into the system.

BMS Integration:
Our system has a MODBUS interface and we can provide the necessary interface for BMS system to read the data from our system and integrate it in their Dashboard.

for reducing fertilizers, pesticides, soil-mass, weeds and water intake
and improves nutrient efficiency and 2x Growth rate.

Currently, the water quality monitoring in Smart Agriculture - Hydroponics are monitored manually. Manual measurements are being conducted four-six times a day and the following water parameters are tested and recorded into a log book.
The parameters being tested manually are :


  1. Electrical Conductivity (EC) Of The Hydroponic Nutrient Solution
  2. Ph Of The Hydroponic Nutrient Solution
Limitation:
  • The EC reading doesn't provide with information regarding the exact mineral content of the nutrient solution.
  • In this case there is a need more information about the nutrient solution content, that EC cannot provide.
  • Testing the hydroponic nutrient solution frequently will help decide on the timing for replacing the nutrient solution or dilute it with fresh water.
  • The optimal pH range of the hydroponic nutrient solution is 5.8-6.3. Micronutrients are more available in lower pH, but when pH levels drop below 5.5, runs the risk of micronutrients toxicity, as well as impaired availability of calcium and magnesium.
  • In hydroponics, especially in closed systems, the roots readily affect the hydroponic solution pH, so pH tends to fluctuate.
  • Appropriate products for acidifying the hydroponic nutrient solution are sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid and nitric acid
  • Ammonium/nitrate is one of the major factors affecting the pH of the nutrient solution.
